Friday
After mom arrived we headed out to find a place for lunch. I had done research online and had a list of possibilities. We ended up going to Eleven Madison for the $36 prix fix lunch special. Mom had the aquatic menu and I had the gourmand. Both were equally good.
After lunch we continued walking. We visited the farmer’s market at union square, the Gramercy Park Hotel, newly redone by Ian Schrager, ABC Carpet & Home, where I try to convince my mom to get a daybed for my room in Cutchogue, and Washington Square Park, near NYU. On the way home, we stop off for a drink at a fun, friendly neighborhood bar on 20th Street.

For dinner we head back to 20th Street for dinner at Parea, a great greek restaurant just across the street from that friendly neighborhood bar.
Saturday
The next day we walk to the MoMA. The line outside is long, but moves quickly. I’m amazed by the collection which includes great works by Picasso, Dali, van Gogh, Matisse, Pollock and Warhol. We have lunch at the bar room at The Modern. The small plates perfectly hit the spot.

That afternoon I fly back to California.
