We spent time just wandering around Dusseldorf, visiting museums and eating. We were pleasantly surprised how beautiful the city is, and how easy it is to get around.

At the tourist office you can get a 'Welcome Card'. This covers transport and museums are either free or discounted. It is really worth getting if you plan to see the museums. We save heaps. It was 14 euros for 48 hours. The tourist office is 200 metres from the train station, on the right as you leave the station.

This town is known as having the longest bar in the world but we didn't go there in the evening. We did however, go a lovely restaraunt called the Zum Schiffchen. It is near the film and ceramic museums and has been there for many centuries. Even Napolean has had a meal there. It has big portions of real German food and is reasonably priced. There are lots of tables and a cosy atmosphere inside.
