Roberto suggested we head up to Horcon for a drive so off we went. The drive up is really nice along the coast road with the beach on one side and the apartments, houses etc on the other. The traffic at this time of year is horrendous and the trip was not fast but after an hour we arrived. Horcon is a traditional fishing village 80km north of Vina. Robbie took one look and said the place was a dump and it certainly didn't look inviting as you first drove in. Only one sreet in and you have to go down dirt lane to get into a car park.

As soon as you get out of the car you are swept away with the atmosphere. At the edge of the Carpark we met "Secundo" who was painting his boat and complaining that it costs $80nz to paint is wooden boat each year. We wandered through the dusty lanes past all the fish vendors and amongst the fishermen selling their catches straight off the boats. Saw a couple of horses saddled up and didn't think too much of it until we saw them pulling the boats out of the water...no tractors here!!!!

We wandered the beach front to the end of the beach where there was an artisan market, which was one of the best I have see here. the artists were friendly and their work was really quite original.

Then we wandered up the street - tried the specialty of the town, Dulce de la Ligua - which is a dry'ish cake sandwiched together with caramel sauce and coated in meringue....nice and messy.

We hunted for another beach that was supposed to be nice - got lost twice and then decided to flag it and headed back to Renaca and on to our new yeard eve celebrations
