From Getting Ready... in Davis, United States on Aug 10 '06

I just wanted to post this to say that, in spite of surrendering my toothpaste, conditioner, and deodorant to a very nice woman and her German Shepard in LAX, I got to Davis for Katie's wedding.

I didn't know what was going on here when I boarded the plane in Seoul, though I did think it was strange that we didn't take off on time given that the plane was there long before. A man came on the intercom and said something about water bottles bound for U.S. territories, but I thought I heard him wrong--his accent was very thick, and a native English speaker never made the same announcement--and frankly, I didn't think my interpretation made any sense.

Customs took an hour, and the plane was already an hour late, so I nearly missed my Southwest flight, running from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 with all of my luggage (total weight: about 70 pounds--thankfully the heavy one rolled), but since nearly all the flights were delayed (which I thought was great luck), I got there with about three minutes to spare.

Katie picked me up, and thankfully she had so much going on that I didn't have time to have the "Oh, I'm back here, and that trip was nuts" meltdown. Katie had it instead. This is why we're friends. We prevent the other's crying with our own. It works.

Anyway, I'm back. And I'll still post stuff later--I have lots of great pictures from Bangkok. :) Thanks for reading.
