Melbourne
We flew down to Melbourne, where we met two of our friends- Dan and Thornley. We spent a couple of days investigating the night life and ended up in a really dodgy rock bar! However Julia and I managed to get everyone in to a jazz club and listen to jazz in a park one evening so we can't really moan !
We also discovered the more cultural side of the city by visiting the Art Gallery and watching England loose at the MCG !
Great Ocean Road
Next we headed towards the Great Ocean Road in a very posh car with music that thornley had bought over! It had a been a long time since we had heard a variety of artists other than Jack Johnson, Dido and snow patrol (cheap tapes we had managed to pick up in NZ!) We visited Anglesea for a few days where the guys learnt to surf, we saw some Kangaroos and went on a pretty coastal walk.
We then drove along to Lorne (the happening place along the GOR, but the bars were all closed by 10pm!!). We had fun in the waves, played cricket/football on the beach. We wandered along to some lookouts of the coast and were very lucky to see a koala in a tree(apparently he had been in the same tree the day before...they sleep 19 hours a day!)
In Apollo Bay the rains came, which meant we saw some stunning waterfalls. The night life was a bit more happening here and we left the boys in the bar, the next morning we woke up to find a trolley outside our tent! Colette met a new man - Homer Simpson (Dan won him at the fair!)
We saw the famous land mark, the twelve apostles, in the RAIN!! But the storm seas gave some dramatic photos
The Grampians National Park
We spent 2 manic days exploring the Grampians where we climbed Mount Zero, saw some more waterfalls and picturesque views. Much of the National Park was burnt in the bush fires that happened in last years bush fires. It left an interesting effect with the green regrowth over the the blackened bark.

St. Kilda We spent our last night in this Melbourne suburb, apparently the red light district although thornley assured us it would be ok! We had a nice meal and went out to a lovely bar recommended by Duncan. It was sad to say goodbye to ....Melbourne as we missed going to the neighbours set(it was fully booked!! There were tears) Of course it was also sad to say goodbye to Dan and Thornley!
