Paradise???

Rain rain go away and please come back another day....

We caught the ferry to Ilha Grande hoping for some relaxation in the sun. The lady in our pousada in Paraty had already dashed our hopes somewhat by saying the weather was unlikely to be good. Journey pleasant enough.

Checked into our hostel - great views of the rain clouds. Realised that we were fairly short of cash and there wasn´t a cash point on the island. Had a short walk about the town before dining in our first all you can eat buffet (GBP2.50). Good old beef, beans and rice. Couple of beers and then relaxed in the hostel. Next day we planned to walk to some of the nicer beaches on the island.

Set of the next day and 15 minutes into our walk the heavens opened. We trudged on over the hills up into the clouds (literally), through the forest in search of the beaches hoping for a change in weather. Arrived at the first beach - very nice. However rain spoilt it somewhat. As the paths through the forrest were already turning to rivers we decided to head back.

Our last full day and the sun decided to come out for a few hours. We decided to chill by the hostel pool and, being British, we both got burnt!

What we managed to see of Ilha Grande was beautiful, such a shame about the weather as the beaches we didn´t reach are supposed to be even nicer....
