Dropping by Durban
From Trains and Boats then Planes in Durban, South Africa on Nov 21 '06
Derek found us wandering with our bags back to the town centre and we piled in his car. He was a very interesting guy and it was lovely to chat to him on the journey down. He was very positive about South Africa, not like the few locals we'd met before who were always telling us not to go anywhere in case we got mugged. It was so refreshing to meet someone with interesting stories and who filled us in on the current events. We chatted about all sorts of stuff, including his job which is in the clothing industry. We visited a garment factory en route and Derek treated us to lunch. He offered to give us a bed for a night at his place and we accepted.
His partner, Kelly was also lovely and the house was gorgeous, we all got on really well and went out for a delicious meal together. It was great because they gave us lots of tips on where to go as we were a bit clueless.

The next day, Kelly dropped us off at a hostel in Durban and we wandered around and tried again to find an internet cafe. We decided to hire a car as we were running short on time for South Africa and we set off the next day for the Wild Coast.
