JCMU - Japan Center for Michigan Univerisities
From Japan 2005 in Hikone, Japan on Jun 12 '05
I spent this day checking out the local grocery stores and shops, biking through rice patties and exploring the edges of Lake Biwa by myself. My friends had Japanese classes at JCMU preparing them for the Expo guide jobs they were about to begin and didn't have free time during the day. But it turned out alright. I was still recovering from jetlag, and a day without much travel could not have been more perfectly timed. Just a lot of contemplative bike riding.
In the evening my friends took me out to a Japanese restaurant. The food was a lot like the Japanese food I am used to having in Vancouver, B.C., only in a wider selection. The evening was spent doing the things any college student anywhere would do: a trip to Liqour Mountain (liquor stores in Japan give free samples, and biking riding drunk while navigating the streets of Japan is NOT easy), another trip to the video game store, then back to the room to enjoy it all with good people.
