Onward to Alamosa we headed south from Silverthorne taking up and over the mountain and down into Leadville. At first, it didn't seem like we were going to have that fun of a trip as snow showers had blanketed the roadway. I was a bit nervous as we were towing my car behind the pickup (our typical travel arrangement) but all I could envision was the fishtail thing and "game over!" Thankfully, Rich is an excellent driver and we made it up and over the mountain and down into Leadville safely. The snow showers ceased and never were to return.

Glorious sunshine blanketed us as we continued down into Buenva Vista, then past Poncha Springs(west of Salida) and finally into Alamosa, arriving mid day. To the west of us, the Sangre De Cristo mountain range, to the east, the La Garita Mountains and San Juan Mountains. Alamosa sits in a valley between these ranges. Along the way we were intrigued by the UFO watch tower. Where is Orsen Wells when you need him?  We arrived into town, and once again, it was to the Super 8 for us. My new boss, John invited us for dinner out at the local brew pub so we could all get acquainted. He reminds me so much of one of my brothers (Rusty) especially when I speak w/ him by phone. Unfortunately, due to some logistical problems, my job start date was pushed back to 12/1 but that just gave us more time to get a place an get to know the area better. It was hard going back to hotel living but it was only temporary as we soon found out!
