And so I finally landed on Ozzie soil.  Oh, what a start it was!  I collected my luggage as normal and was ushered into a holding area where they check your bags.  I thought, ok I must be one of the unlucky spot checks that they do.  Then the lady searching starts asking questions about my stay and where I've been etc.  I thought she was just interested, but after the 50th question I started to worry.  It was like being on mastermind with the specialist subject being 'me, what I've been doing and where I'm going!' (Surely i was gonna win this quiz!).  After my bag was searched an offical body search was conducted.   After this had been done she confessed that there were traces of amphetamine on my credit card!  WHAT!!!  I dont even know what the drug is.  God knows how it even got on my card.  Anyhow, I was let go and ventured onto Oz soil for the first time!

I was told that Adelaide was a pretty boring and small city, but I lucked in by being there when the Fringe Festival of arts, comedy and music were on.  This was pretty much the same as the edinbrough festival, not that i've been there, but i'm guessing it is.  There was loads happening and a great atmosphere in the city.  Loads of free stuff happening as well, which is always a bonus!  I stayed in a hostel called Cannon Street Backpackers Hostel, which was huge.  I finally found this place after being turned down by about 3 other hostels.  I had the story of mary and joseph and the little donkey ringing through my ears as i kept being turned away from place to place!

And so I finally landed on Ozzie soil

In the hostel i met loads of people, but ended up spending alot of my time there with 3 irish travellers (Without the Caravan!).  We went to some of the fringe stuff and also had a session on the old Guini (or Guiness as its more commonly known).  Here I learnt a few new words from the Irish, such as 'Locked' or pissed as we might know it and 'Osified' as being absolutely wrecked!  You can tell the Irish are good drinkers when they have different scales of drunkeness!

In the daytime I wondered around the city and visited the local museums & art gallery.  This was interesting but mainly done to get out of the heat.  These places all have fantastic air conditioning!  I also visited China Town for some cheap all ya can eat snap and rode around the city on the free loop bus.  I think I must have clocked about 3 laps on those bad boys!
