This just goes to show you that I know very little about concentration camps. I just assumed that they were only in Germany. I didn't even know that Denmark was involved in the war. However, after seeing the Frøslevlejrens museum I am more aware about concentration camps.
This place is very well preserved. Very informative museums with many displays. Cameras are allowed, and I suggest using one. There are toilets, food stands, and a picnic area. A lot of shade and many places to explore. Most of the buildings are open. Entering the camp is free. The museums cost to enter. There is also a UN museum, but not worth it.
It is so amazing to me to see that no matter how much the Nazi's tried to break the Jew's spirit, the prisoners would find something to keep it alive.

When entering the first museum all I could think of was how sad and unhappy it must of been to be there. But, the museum mostly focuses on the spirit of its occupants. A lot of what you will see is how the prisoners came up with innovative ideas to keep up their spirits. They made chess pieces out of bread, and the chest board out of paper. The ladies made purses out of twine, and sculpted figurines out of bread, mud and clay. There was even a talented bunch who would rehearse and conduct plays. It is so amazing to me to see that no matter how much the Nazi's tried to break the Jew's spirit, the prisoners would find something to keep it alive.

In the other museum buildings you would see the name of every prisoner there was in that camp. Illegal pictures taken by the prisoners of the abuse. Pictures of soldiers coming to the rescue and so on. Once again, very amazing.
I would put this as top priority to see when in Denmark. I took many pictures, and I will always remember what I seen.
