Must say, I heard that NZ lost 75% of its woodland to agriculture and thought, well, it can't be that bad. Still a bit of a shock because they really have gone to town with the whole sheep/cow farming thing. There's not nearly as many trees about the place as you'd hope, and that's saying something coming from the UK where we've lost about 90% (or there abouts). Still, the trip along the coast road from Picton was as good as the train and you can see seals etc from the windows frolicking about as they do.

Mountains and sea and a bit of Kaikora in the bottom left hand corner.

Kairkora's a nice seaside town as it goes, got all the whale watching, seal swimming etc you could ever hope for in a place. Best bit of the place is probably the view up to the mountains which end slap bang against the sea. Blah blah blah I'm boring myself.
