La Ciudad de Mexico
From Aaron Does South America in Mexico City, Mexico on Sep 03 '06
God! How amazing is Mexico. I was so worried I was going to get robbed, kidnapped and murdered! Its actually okay!
When I arrived at the airport, every sign was in Spanish and everyone was speaking Spanish. God did I freak out. A lonesome traveller who only learnt Spanish for a month. The craziness of a big city with a totally foreign culture. OH... MY... GOD.....
Price of a Corona or Margarita: 1 US Dollar
Mexicanos are so absolutely hospitable and friendly. When I was lost, not only did someone come up to me to provide directions, he actually escorted me all the way up a few floors and wanted to learnt to speak Mandarin!
This kicks LA's ass anytime.
Really proud of myself being able to speak Spanish. The mexicans constantly stare at me as I walk by. They don´t see asians very often in Mexico. Can you guess how surprised they were to hear me hold a conversation in Spanish?
I miss Mei very much. Wish my flat mate was here to join her partner in crime.
I walked down to the Zocalo (which means base or centre in Spanish). I was in awe with the masses of people and traffic and how huge the square was. Its actually been said that its the 2nd biggest square in the world next to Tianamen Square.
Went up to a tower on the 44th floor to spectate the amazing sunset over the Centro Historico. Chatted with a Alemana Turista (German touris) and suddenly heard a machine gun go off far away in the streets! Nuts!
Little worried about the trip for a few things. Riots in Oaxaca. Hurricanes over Cozumel and Baja California.
Really tired. Have only slept 8 hours over 2 days and been drinking every day.
Check this out.

Guess what I got up to? Couple of people in the hostel were playing drinking games. I wiggled my way in and couldn´t find my way out!
I hope I won´t drink much more the next few days. I love tequila..... SALUTE!!
