Kuta, Bali
From Round The World Trip 2006-2007 in Kuta, Indonesia on Oct 06 '06
So, we've arrived back to Kuta. After our week-long stay here nearly a forthnight ago it feels like home. This morning we left the Gili's at 8.15am by boat. Thankfully, the water was really calm and the trip went quickly. We had a think about the journey back to Kuta and decided to fly instead, thus saving us around 4-5 hours. We paid 70k each for the boat and bus to the airport, arriving around 10.10. The next flight was at 12.30. You guessed it a Dash 8 propeller plane :o) We got Lunn-Polied at the ticket desk though; we had to pay 429,000 each (plus 20,000 departure tax). Some English girls we knew on the flight paid 280k :o) The flight itself was grand and only 20 minutes long! :o)
During our last time here we had heard of a club called Double 6 which only kicks off around 4am and goes to sunrise. A session was on the cards. We were pretty wrecked from the early start and the travelling itself but that didn't hold us back. We hit Bounty and MBarGo as usual, ran out of money, went back got more and then hit Double 6 around 4ish. Great club with excellent music - loads of people there too! We met two local girls who afterwards brought us to an underground club. Pitch black inside, techno pounding. It was an experience. Got home into the wee hours absolutely shattered. Sunday was a complete right-off! :o)
Back again in Kuta...
Monday was spent totally on the beach taking in some serious rays. A little surprise dropped by Esc (our favourite place) that night, Trudi :o) A detour on a visit from Melbourne meant she could visit for 2 nights. So we were able to hang out again, have a laugh, enjoy the beach and nightlife.
All of us including Matt, Jolanda and Trudi were all flying out Wednesday afternoon. Myself and Kev really didn't want to leave Bali, just a few more days we wanted, but unfortunately we had to go. To add to how bummed we felt, our departure flight via Jakarta back to Singapore was cancelled. The airline (Adam Air) were ringing us all day to finally tell us, that essentially we were going to have to spend the night in Jakarta and get the next available flight which was the next morning. Crap! So we leave Bali behind sadly - I would definitely recommend coming here to everyone (Peak time is August and Christmas).
