San Juan del Sur was great. It had a very different vibe to Ometepe, though, as alot of the town is owned and run by foreigners who have settled there (Americans and Europeans). As a result, having an insight into the local peoples lives wasn't possible.

I was with Philipp, the German guy I have been traveling with, and we stayed at a hostel with a beach view, and my room had a balcony. Within the price, rats, cockroaches and a whole load of militant mosquitoes were included. My legs and arms right now look like I am suffering from chicken pox!!!! Irritating as hell, especially since I have been lucky thus far with mosquitoes. I guess that they realized they were missing one tourist out and decided to feast on him to catch up on all the blood they could have had from me. On Friday 18th , I just chilled in San Juan and saw the town. Was supposed to go to a nearby beach but it rained all afternoon and so wasn't worth the effort. Saw an amazing sunset over the sea, though, whilst enjoying a drink at a beachside restaurant (pics to follow as soon as I can get them uploaded somewhere). Went out at night and had a great time in the bars of the town and ended up in a club with Amit (who was also in San Juan with some friends who had come down from the states). Ended up going to the beach (Majagual) on Saturday, with Philipp and Amit. The beach at Majagual was AMAZING!! Clean and tranquil, and a hangout for surfers as the waves were big. No commercial interference yet, which made it all the more special. We hiked up the beach to some rock formations and a cave into which the waves came in. Extraordinary sight. We underestimated the waves, however and whilst chilling there and trying to cross the stream of water to get to the virgin beach on the other side, got absolutely soaked and beaten by some humongous waves which ended up in some of us losing hats, sunglasses, and me, my slippers (which Amit later got back for me). Saturday night was another night of enjoying the nightlife of San Juan del Sur. Left on Sunday to head off to Costa Rica.

“Party time!!”
