Who climbs a volcano in Summer?

Well this would have to be the roughest weather we could encounter. The ship was rocking
and rolling all night with gale force winds and squals. Waves of 10 to 12 feet made for
a nice bumpy ride.
We awoke to a beautiful day although very windy and the sites of Santorini Island which was

again spectacular.
Anchoured in a bay of dark blue water looking up at the house lined cliffs was a site to
behold.
The water was rough as guts and our trip in the tender vesel was like a roller coaster. We

had a few guests releaving themselves of breakfast over the edge along the way. Another bad
choice of shore excursions as we ventured over to the volcanic island and walked nearly
straight up 800 meters to look into a crater with, you guesed it, rocks and a little steam.
It was that windy that people were nearly being blown off the top of the crater.

From here we ventured to the next island through bloody rough seas to swim in the
hot sulphur springs. The tender vesel anchored about 60 meters from a little inlet and you
had to swim to this murky brown water that was supposed to be hot springs. From where I
swam it was bloody cold and not much hot springs anywhere but worth the journy just to dive
off the boats into the glorious water.
We were then dropped at the port at the base of the cliffs in Santorini where you take a cable
car nearly straight up to the top where the township ship spreads out via a series of small
laneways that only people and donkeys can get through. A lot of shopping and some great
food at a rooftop taverna. Would you believe it the State of Origin was on in the local pub
so we got to see part of the second half.
Back on board and off for what looks like a rough night on route to Athens.
