Lyon is France's second city and lies at the confluence of the Saone and Rhone.
It has remained an important centre since Roman times. The centre-ville contains many interetsing places to visit and is easy to get round (if you don't mind a couple of big hills). The East bank of the Rhone is particularly pleasant with many people hanging out and taking any oportunity to bask in the sun.
