Plan to camp? I Dont THINK so!!!!

We took a train to Werfen, via Salzburg, with full intention of camping... However, as we were on the train, we saw ourselves going into purpler and purpler clouds and very frequent lightning... about every 2 minutes another would strike!! And we could hardly see the view for all the rain!! GO FIGURE! So when we arrived in Werfen, we threw on the rain gear and trudged into town and found some private accomadation for an okay price. In a little house owned by an older couple, the man always wearing his apron.... We got a beautiful room with a deck facing the mountains and castle and garden and a private bathroom! As soon as we were all settled in, the rain mellowed to a pitter patter... GO FIGURE! But as we walked through the little one road type town, we saw a map that showed that camping was about a 3km hike away! We found the strangest thing ever in this charming little hamlet... FREE INTERNET ON THE STREET!!! Just a random little kiosk, looked sort of like a bank machine, but it was internet! In 20years, they will be everywhere!

Our first day there we hiked out of town, in the rain, and took an old school bus up this mountain, through the clouds. But the road ended and we had to hike up- almost straight up!!!- another 20minutes.... Then we took a cable car, really really straight up, and really fast, up about 700m! Then it was time for another 20min hike up hill and we couldnt even see over the path because we were now at 1700M and walking around in the clouds! Didnt see any angels though! THEN! We finally arrived at our destination... THE WORLDS LARGEST ICE CAVE!!!!!! We got an hour tour through this wonder of nature, a cave with GIANT Ice formations, lit only by our little fuel lamps and strips of Magnesium that the guide used to show us the formations.

After that, and all the coming down business, we hiked up a DIFFERENT mountain, well, a hill really, but a BIG UN! and went to the castle!!! We got a big tour of that as well and got to see a falconry and bird of prey show! One owl was swooping down to get a morsel of meat and got his claw stuck in a kids jacket!! And, people being the savage beasts they are, a whole bunch of people crowded around it... Yes, good idea, CROWD AROUND the frightened bird of prey with the 8ft wing span... pshaw.

That is pretty much it, I guess.....
