The next morning after a full cooked English breakfast, we were on the road early as we were both really excited about going to Scotland. We decided to go the back way through the English countryside, which is really stunning. We thought we might stop in York to look around, but just ended up driving through the town as Edinburgh was where we really wanted to go! York was pretty stunning, none the less, lots of medieval buildings and another castle. There was an exhibit where you could see what it was like living as a viking which sounded quite interesting as well. Nevertheless, we carried on up to Edinburgh.

Driving up through the Highlands was probably the highlight of the trip so far. They are stunningly beautiful, very much like you see on the Harry Potter films, didn't manage to catch a glimpse of the Hogwart's Express, but saw the railway tracks that took them all up to Hogwart's Castle! As we were driving along, two fighter jets cruised over above us, so of course we had to put on Richard Marx's 'Danger Zone' and reenact the Top Gun movie. They kept zooming back and forth through the Highlands and it was so wicked! We also saw a couple of HIghland cows, which are the cutest of all the cows you will ever see. I wished I could have taken one home as a souvineer!

By 4.30pm we were in Edinburgh, and just in time for rush hour, yikes! It was incredibly and ridiculously hot and the heat was frying our brains as we started getting lost trying to find Brodies Backpacker's Hostel which was recommended to us through our guidebook. We eventually found it after driving around for a full hour and absolutely knackered from the drive. Our experience of Edinburgh wasn't the best, but the scenery was amazing. The buildings and streets are amazing, I think it was the most beautiful city we have been so far. The Edinburgh Castle set up on the hill was pretty awesome, and just amazing to look down on such and old city. We EVENTUALLY found our hostel and checked into the Trainspotting room, I grabbed the Renton named bed and crashed out til after 10pm. We decided to go out for a drive to pick up some dinner by then and of course ended up lost again! After seeing the city circuit at least a dozen times we decided we had had enough of Edinburgh and to move on to the next city, perhaps revisiting on the way home.

Sleeping at that hostel was another story. There were people coming and going at all hours and we were right by the kitchen. After no more than 3 hours sleep, we got up early, and got the hell out of Edinburgh. (After a quick stop at the local mall)
