Our last full day in Iceland, so we decided we'd treat ourselves after yesterday's outdoor adventure to a day at one of the biggest health spas in Europe.

Laugar Spa and World Class gym is a 5 star health and swimming resort in the heart of Reykjavik. It has a full sized outdoor pool, an Olympic-sized indoor pool, 7 jacuzzis and a big thermal pool for lots of family fun! Other facilities include the gym, spa, beauty and massage salon and 2 restaurants. All this for only €40 and you can spend as along as you want there.

I LOVE ICELAND!

This really was a day of pampering and we knew we were in for a treat when we had to have eye scans at reception so that we would have access to all areas. There's no such thing as having a key strapped onto your arm here.. Oh NO... at every door you have to have your eyes scanned for entry!!! Very cool! Of course, I had a little hic-up at the beginning and got stranded outside the dressings rooms, but the staff were so apologetic even when they really didn't need to be. I thought it was funny really!!

Anyhow, I won't get into all the details of what we did, but let's just say it was worth every penny... it is an amazing place to spend a day and it seems that it's also the place for locals to hang out and meet up too. Best of all however, had to be the ice showers... I've come to realise that I love the cold more so than the heat and pulling on the string to cause a bucket of ice water crashed down on you was just so refreshing!! That and the relaxation room were highlights. (One piece of advice though - if you snore, try not to fall asleep in this room! Relaxing while there is someone snoring beside you just doesn't work!!)

However, best of all and something I never thought I'd say on a trip to Iceland happened me here. I GOT A TAN! No, not a fake one, A REAL TAN direct from the sun!!! Can you imagine, Iceland- a place to get a tan. I would never have believed it, but I had the evidence on my back and the stripes to prove it :o)

A great way to finish off an amazing holiday. I can't wait to go back someday and explore more of this great country. Well worth a visit at any stage of the year.
