One year in a week
From Bala and Rob do Europe in Burlington, United States on Jun 23 '08
We cut our wedding cake again today. Took it out of deep freeze where it has been for the past year and still looks and more importantly tastes good too. It will be out first wedding anniversary in one week; time does fly by. In a way it feels like we have been together for a long time and accomplished a lot but at the same time it feels like we just got married last week. All my anxiety about married life has ebbed away over the last year.
Almost six months of planning and true to form we have a gazillion things to do tonight before we leave tomorrow. Heeding the advise from various people, I spent a few hours today booking tickets for the museums in Italy. Very good idea. A lot of the tickets were almost sold out. It was pretty amusing to read the English translations of the Italian websites too. Looks like we have secured entry to The Leaning tower of Pisa. For some wierd reason, I really look forward to climbing the leaning tower; sort of a childhood dream.
Robin is in her packing mode, so much stuff to take, so little space to put it in. We have forwarded our mail, put our life in storage and are ready to go. Definitely the longest vacation for the both of us, before we come back and start new jobs. It has been over five years since I left England and am curious to see if things have changed. This is Rob's first trip to Europe and she has been very excited all along but seems wierdly calm today. We have been planning and looking forward to this trip for so long it just seems surreal that we are actually going.
