Thank God for Gaff Tape

Where do I start...first Andrew rang to say the washing machine at home had stopped going. Then Tom Tom our navigation device wouldn't turn on (we have resolved this problem we think, it can't have been charging correctly and the battery was flat) then in a side street in Singleton whilst parking, the van awning just grazed a pole which was right on the gutter and not in my mirror and guess what, we have no rollout awning. There was this springing noise and Helen shouting and all I could see was the awning arms swinging about in the air. So out with the Gaff tape, isn't that stuff marvelous. And later after booking into Country Acres Van Park I have removed the Gaff tape and realigned the bottoms of the arms, but it will have to go to the repair shop because some of the pivot points have ripped out of their housing and the whole back mounting bracket will need replacing. I'll have to get some long bag ties and tie the arm up so it can't move. I suppose Shit happens, but one thing I can say is that I stayed calm! Amazing Then as we unhitched the van the drawbar swung to the right and grazed Helen on the leg. She'll have a nasty bruise just below the knee. Although the brochure says they have Internet access here when I went to enquire the office occupant had no idea what I was talking about. I'll go again tomorrow when the normal person is there. So now the plan will change, we'll have to go to Newcastle to see if we can get the awning fixed. You can see from the photos how close it was at the top and far from the gutter at the bottom. The mirror doesn't cover the lot. That wont be for a week or 7 days, but we will make some phone calls. In the mean time we are here to visit wineries, taste wine, visit the cheese factories and the olive growers and take a look at the military museum and the old 3TB where I did my basic training back in 1967. Tooth and jaw are maybe a little more comfortable today compared with yesterday and I have only taken one lot of Panadol today. I may have to get some bonjella and paste the gum around the tooth. I don't know what we'll do first tomorrow but I'm sure we will tell you in the next episode,
