Treking up the hillside. This hill was never-ending, and it was so steep at some parts I was holding myself up with my hands, I don't know whose bright idea that route was.

In my Outdoor education class there are two different backpacking trips we take over the course of the semester.  The first one was to a place just outside of Rathdowney, Queensland, at a place called Meebunn-Bia, which means "In the company of an eagle."  Apparently they have a lot of eagles there, but I didnt' see any.   And no, not bald eagles.

We got to Meebunn and started off hiking right away, each person had to carry all their own gear for the 3 days, which ended up being about a 40lb pack.  The first day we ended up doing a high ropes course and just hiking a lot over some pretty rough terrain.  Our sleeping situtations consisted of a tarp draped over a rope that was tied between two trees and with an hour on the first night we already had an animal in ours.  The second day we were able to get off the beaten path a bit and got divided into 4 person groups and had to navigate a 2 mile course through the outback on our own with a topographical map and a compass.  Then we did some more ropes course type things and made it to our second camp just before sunset.  We got to the summit for sunset and had an amazing 360 degree view of the area from the top.  I also made it back to the summit at about 5:30 the next morning for sunrise, but it was a bit too cloudy to fully enjoy it.  Later that day we headed back to campus.  I enjoyed the trip, but needless to say I was ready to go back, I had been wearing the exact same sweaty outfit and drinking yellow rainwater for 72 hours.  I was ready for a shower.
