La Paz
From Leaving my London home in La Paz, Bolivia on Dec 07 '07
I was expecting a dirty, chaotic city and it was pretty chaotic but not so dirty and I have to say that I loved La Paz, for the short time I was there. Great artesana shopping, wierd witches markets, plenty of good restaurants and everything was so cheap!
It helped that by the time we reached La Paz, Maaike and I had collected quite a crew of travel buddies, so on the Saturday night we had a fiesta. We were a group of artesanas from Columbia and France, travellers from Holland, France, Australia, Chile, NZ, Uruguay and America. Unfortunately we lost half of our crew on the way to Mongos but that didn't stop us trying to keep up with the local salsa crowd!
Sorry to all the 'Marching Powder' fans but I didn't make it to San Pedro prison while I was in La Paz... instead, I paid a visit to the Coca Museum after a fantastic lunch of Uruguayan asado which, quite frankly, put our Aussie BBQs to shame!
