Planning for our trip

It will be 3 months before we leave on the Nov 1st and so far we have started clearing down the flat of all our crap. It amazes me how much stuff we horde.. 'I might need that in the future-mentality' when in fact it would probably take you longer to find the item again hidden or 'put somewhere safe' than actually go out and buy it again.

*Note to Michael : don't horde stuff you 'might' need in the future, just bin it !!

Starting point for our trip. We bought our rucksacks recently and a great deal of research and forum/web checking occured to conclude that we physically-fit enjoy the Osprey range of rucksacks, primarily for the hip-buckle system and fit than for anything else. With that sorted our next dialemma is footwear!!

'To Croc or not is the question'. Personally I hate them and yes it is all about looks !! My brother from South Africa introduced me to them and then already I ripped into him about his 'hobo-plastic' look and refused that I would ever even condone the thought that I would even wear them. Then my mother sends me IM and tells me about these shoes and how she found Jibbitz to put in them and on her last vist I was relieved to see she had a bought a low-key green combat colour than some of those gastly yellow and pink ones I've seen. I see the praticallity of them, in water and sand... but still cannot bring myself to pay the £30 for them. I'll stick to flip-flops and Birkenstocks.

Cal got a parcel from Viv and Mike in Germany containing a swank new pair of black Birkenstocks; so I am now able to update the title of our Travelogue to :

"Around the world in our Birkenstocks"
