Goodbye Austria
From EUROPE....no golf on this trip! in Augsburg, Germany on Oct 18 '07
Burrrrrrrrr! We’ve got snow!
We looked outside this morning and a winter wonderland was upon us…..it was (and still is) cold! Our car reported 2C ( 38 degrees!) After yet another German/ Austrian breakfast of bread, cheese, meats, granola and jams we ventured off to Augsburg back in Germany. It was there in Augsburg that we found our first official Lutheran Church! St. Anne’s We visited the Luther rooms and saw many artifacts….(confirmation students: please note, wait till you see a picture of the official Luther’s Small Catechism) Due to bad road conditions, we had a very long and roundabout trip to Nurnberg. However, during our wandering we found Pornburg ( we thought it was an interesting name of a town, maybe something you would expect in California but not in the countryside of Germany)…the picture of the maypole is from there. At Nurnberg, inside the walled city, we visited Albrecht Durer’s home. It was interesting to see his woodcuts and paintings. Now we are in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. (Yet another walled city!...we didn’t get lost in this one!) We are spending the night at Pension that was formerly a flour mill. (We are way up top).
We continue to think and pray for you all.
Blessings!
