After breakfast, Paul got to grips with the Yaris. I was a little worried that he'd get us killed, but he picked up foreign

driving quickly, despite a slight skid on one road the driving went, mostly, ok. The roads in Iceland are really quite bad to drive on. It was Paul's idea to head towards Jökulsárlón, to see a lagoon filled with icebergs. We never made it that far, I don't think we knew it'd take so long, considering how slowly Paul had to drive on most of the roads. We made it to Vík, which has bins with massive, yellow rave smilies on them.. weird? - then turned around a few kms up the road, in the middle of nowhere and headed back to Vík, where we discovered the black-sand beach there after following a jeep down a track probably not suitable for little Yaris. We clambered down to the beach so Paul could play with some rocks.

Yaris got stuck in the snow!

It was far too cold, so we headed back to the car and decided, as it was getting late..r and Paul didn't want to drive on those roads in the dark, we'd go back to Reykjavík. However, driving back to the road, Yaris got stuck in the snow! It wasn't so funny at the time, but I find it amusing now.. we had to dig the snow out from around the wheels with those little ice scrapers for the wind screen.

The drive, despite being so long and slow, was great. We saw lots of nice little places; Hella, Selfoss, Hvolsvöllur, Eyrarbakki.. and lots of lovely scenery
