We started off on our second Pacific Northwest weekend tour with a short stop in "sunny" Seattle. Sunny Seattle sounds like an oxymoron, but this week we were blessed with gorgeous weather and great views of the mountains along the way, the city scene and Lake Union, which was just across the street from our hotel.

We got off to a late start so we didn't arrive in Seattle with time to shop around for dinner. However, the girls were so thrilled when we walked into the door of our spacious 2-room, apartment-like suite at the Residence Inn that the party was back on once we settled down in our room. Audrey exclaimed "this is the best hotel I've ever stayed at!" as she settled back in the comfy king-size bed she and Claire would share -- in their own room, no less -- enjoying a glass of milk while innocently ordering up her own movie as well. A room definitely fit for a queen, or a few princesses, I should say!

In the morning, Kenny took off to his appointment with REI while the girls and I enjoyed a hearty breakfast in the beautiful seven-story lobby with tranquil waterfall. When Elise woke up from her morning nap, we all took a dip in the family-friendly pool, which included a smaller kiddie pool that Claire could enjoy comfortably while Elise practiced her back float and front "glide" with Mommy. We were sad to have to cut the day short when Kenny arrived back, but we had another drive ahead as our next leg, up to Vancouver BC, could prove to be long depending on traffic. So we hit the road around noon and were on to the next adventure!
