Glacier tidbits - by Steph

A paddle on Lake Louise gave us a awesome view we’ve seen many times in paintings and photographs, but never in real life, let alone in a canoe. The crystal blue colour the lake has is (we found this out at the Columbia Ice fields) is from rock flour. Rock flour is created by the movement of the glaciers as is grinds against the mountains. It creates this flour that eventually runs down with the melting ice and makes all the lakes and rivers in this area a cloudy crystal blue colour. A sad thing happened on the golf course that Craig didn’t mention yesterday… we dropped the camera and it broke… it was a good little camera and gave us over 5 years of great pictures. We spent a good chunk of time searching out a similar camera that would work on our memory cards. A stop at London Drugs in Kamloops ended our search.

We set up the tent tonight in Salmon arm in the dark and begged the campground operators to keep the laundromat open long enough so we could have some clean undies.
