Granada, Nicaragua

Next, we were back on the bus headed for Granada, Central America´s most loved colonial city. Crossing the border and changing our money with the little men that wait there for us Gringo´s (its a better exchange rate than the banks) we were armed with our Cordoba´s and after another 7 hours of travel, we reached Granada. The hottest stop yet.. about 35 degrees at least in this town, and very humid.

We found an awsome hostel here (hostel Oasis) with a pool, hammocks, lounges, rocking chairs, and cable TV! It was stunning in Granada, extremely clean, pretty cobblestone streets leading off the Parque Central, blue skies and bright sun. In fact, everything was bright here. The colours were gorgeous.. reminded me alot of Mexico with the buildings and houses painted in pastels - blues, pinks, tons of yellow. The biggest difference would be that there was a lot less red here than Mexico, and far more yellow. Also, the streets here are alot wider and there is much more open space. On the first day, we took in the sights by taking a horse drawn cart around the city´s cobblestone streets, enjoying the old buildings and colour - a very photogenic place. Due to my time restrictions, we could only stay in Granada 2 nights, and it was the only place we stopped in Nicaragua. It is my favourite city!

Granada is not Nicaragua's capital. Managua is the capital.
