I've arrived safely in California and my first stop is San Francisco. I've been here two days and I have to tell you it is a must visit! The streets are gorgeous - think tree-lined, steep - very steep, pretty and colourful houses. Just think of the Sony coloured balls ad! On the first day the sun was out - but it is cold here, about 13 degrees (I belive even London is warmer now!?).

I'm staying at North Beach and the first day I spent visiting Fisherman's Wharf which was so nice - tons of souvenier shops, but awsome views, including Alcatraz across the water. Shame I'm not a massive fan of seafood as it all looked so good. Then later,

I checked out China town - everywhere has one!! My second and last day here, I went to Golden Gate Bridge. Photo's don't do it justice and it is amazing to see. I went to the 'crookedest street', Golden Gate Park (with its own Japanese Tea Garden), Haight Street (hippie central!) and Alamo Square where they have 'postcard row' - a street of pretty houses. Then it was off to the shopping in Main Street! Wow, there are sooo many shops, I dare say more than London or Singapore. I went to Bloomingdale's of course and splerged on a nice skirt for work when I return to London. I've had a great time here, even though its been by myself! Tomorrow I have a fairly long journey, 7 hours on a bus to Los Angeles. The weather has been a little on the chilly side for me - about 13 degrees.

I stayed at the Green Tortoise which was a nightmare really. Very much a party hostel and undesirables - I got no sleep as every night (it was over the weekend) it sounded like a nightclub right outside my door.
