Back to the West Coast...and Venice Beach! We found a cheap, really cool hostel right on Venice Beach. And then, Josh got sick. So we spent a few days in the hostel, tending to his illness - apparently a bad cold or flu. We did manage to make it around Venice Beach for a few days, hanging out on the boardwalk, biking to the Santa Monica Pier. But our time in the big cities of California are proving to be quite...illness causing.
On Friday we moved from from Venice Beach to downtown. Okay, I'll only say it once, and I'll leave it alone. I hate LA.

So moving along...we took the detour cause while back in Philly we heard there was going to be a Decompression Street Party on Saturday in downtown LA - another Burning Man event - basically a big party in the streets with lots of burner freaks. Our kind of scene!
On Friday we also decided it was time to get our tattoos!!! We found a spot and a great artist, who also took walk ins. He drew up a great design, and under the needle we went. OWWWW! Okay this is Dove's 5th tattoo, and by far the most painful. Ankles hurt! But we love the finished result.

After that, we drove out to Thousand Oaks to see Dove's cousin Little Tony (don't let him know I called him that, ok?) for wine and dinner. Dove hadn't seen him in maybe 3 or 4 years, and it was a ton on fun. Good food, good wine, good company...believe it or not, family can be fun! He also convinced us to head to San Diego when we were done with LA...so it looks like that'll be in our plans too :o)
Saturday was Decom day. Got there about 3 or 4...it took a little while to get used to the scene. We aren't used to hanging out with West Coast burners, and it was a different vibe, but a lot of fun. We hooked up with our PEX east coast friends and had a good time. Lee Mayjah? spun around 10pm and totally rocked the house. The fire stage was awesome, as was the Clownarchy stage. They really know how to have a good party!

We spent the rest of the night hopping from after party to after party thru the streets of LA. Honestly we totally felt like rockstars. Partied like them too. But alas, 5am came too soon and we had to crash.
