Goodbye Darjeeling

Its our last day in Darjeeling so we spent the day tying up loose ends. We did a few minor last bits of shopping & Jessica & Kathy walked out to Ghoom to visit the Monastery while Heather lounged around the Hotel in an attempt to recover from her cold.

Jessica & Kathy had an eventful walk to Ghoom; getting completely lost & having to walk through the maze of tiny back stair ways to get back on the main road shortly out of Darjeeling. After all the the folks at the monastery were completely unwelcoming locking doors in front of Jessica & Kathy and refusing to speak to them. While it is possible we could have done something wrong this is completely opposite to the reaction we received at all the other monasteries we visited. They left feeling rejected & unsatisfied after the 2.5 hour walk there but still looked forward to the return journey (determined not to get lost).

They made it home without getting lost & even managed to procure a few bananas & oranges for a more then fair price at a small stand along the way.

Heather had had an enjoyable day at the hotel, reading over yummy milk tea & making sure all the camcorder batteries were fully charged for the next leg of our journey.

With daylight hours fading fast all thats left for us in Darjeeling is one last meal, packing & a (hopefully) good nights sleep before we catch our cab.

We hope all is well back home.

Jessica, Kathy & Heather.

What a wonderous adventure you are experiencing. Ann told me that there were numerous entries, so I snuggled into a blanket and enjoyed them all. Happy New Year to all 3 of you - undoubtably the best start to a New Year. Miss you all. Maybe you're starting a new tradition where the women go off on adventures leaving the kids at home ? Think about it - shouldn't be too long when we're not all pregnant (I'm not pregnant)... Also very jealous about the fabric - can't wait to see what you make from it! love tonya.
