This is the first time that Patrick and I have been away for Christmas, and I have to admit that it was easier than I expected thanks to good friends and great company here.  We missed our families but thankfully we were never alone over the holidays, which made it easier.  Thanks to everyone who shared it with us and we hope that you all had an equally good time.

We hosted Christmas Eve at our friend Joe's place.  We didn't have enough room at our place and Joe offered his.

We had such a great time.  It was the three of us, and Caroline and four of her cousins.  We had a ton of food, as per usual, and a decent amount of drink.  Patrick worked really hard on the turkey and all of the food...he impressed everyone.

We also did our gift exchange on Christmas Eve because we knew it was going to be a busy few days.  Patrick got me a really nice pair of flannel PJs...maybe now I won't be so cold all the time.  I gave Patrick a bunch of board games and a trip to Wales.  Really we are both going to be paying for Wales, so it is a gift to both of us, from both of us.

Christmas Day we went to Patrick's co-worker Tom's place.  We were invited for breakfast and ended up staying for dinner.  We were not free loaders, but it was so much fun to just sit and visit.  With four chefs in the kitchen it was also fantastic food.  Tom and his friends worked really hard to prepare an egg and sausage breakfast and a ham dinner...they were amazing hosts.
