So today I picked up my retal car from Euro-cars, just down the road from my hostel. This place is a real gem. They managed to find ways of ripping you off without you being able to do anything about it. For example: they make you pay by visa for you car - but they charge 3% extra for using a cresit card. They're parias, just waiting to rip the clothes from your body if you so much a wear down a layer off the car's paint job. Anyways, the Hyundai's name is Scoobe and we have just driven the 270 or so km to Canberra - a fairly dull town with nothing much to do other than tour around museums. Luckily that's not what I came for. There's also a buskers festival going on this week with I'm going to pass by later on tonight. Canberra is the 6th Australian state - allowing it to make it's own rules. Fireworks and pot are among the few things that you can buy here, but no where else in Australia. Perhaps the lighter legislative laws will bring out the piro in me... but i doubt it! Another YHA hostel here - luckily I got a bed... I'm dreading the day thet my "fly by the seat of my pants" mentality forces me to spend the night in my little car, which by the way smells strongly of car detergent no matter how long i leave the windows open for. Tomorrow... is another day with plans that have not yet been made. I've said goodbye to my friends in Sydney, and am now alone again, on the open road, heading south to Melbourne... eventually!
