Hoi An...(which is not to be confused with Hanoi)...was a nice city for some down time.  As if our trip is so strenuous! Again, this place was highly influenced by the French. We arrived at 3 pm and spent the first day lounging at the hotel pool. That night we went to a Tet carnival. There were lots of games we didn't understand. I just gave them money and they gave me darts to throw at a big bulletin board. The prizes were quite interesting. Forget stuffed animals, it was all about beer, candy, cookies, and pots/pans. Beer for the men, candy/cookies for the kids, and i assume pots/pans for the women. I took the candy :)

On our second day, Rach and I decided to go to the beach! Which has white sand and good waves. Now its about 3 miles away. The normal way to go is on motorbike or bicycle. I really wanted to ride bikes. Well, Rach had a traumatizing experience with bikes back in the day & opted not to ride on a bike. Me and my determined self decided that I would drive us both! Haha, only the locals ride two to a bike. The point is to blend with the culture right? Well, we got plenty of stares and chuckles, it was hilarious. I got a great workout too! Once on the beach you can get anything from manicures to massages. So I got a manicure to help a lady out. Overpayed but i was in a giving mood. I even got hot pink nails (not surprising...i'm practically the president of the dork club).

Our final day was spent at the Cham Ruins in MySon. Once up in the hills, it is absolutely beautiful. The ruins are centuries old. It reminded me of something I will see at the Inca ruins in Peru in a couple of months. To be honest, I was more intrigued with the fantastic view than the ruins, especially since there were so many tourists. Ideally, its best to go before sunrise on a private motorbike. I bet that is a vision.

Hoi An is also a great place to have clothes tailor made for very reasonable prices. I probably should have gotten some suits made...especially since i'll have to be more of a 'serious' dresser soon, but who can be bothered with that on vacation? I'm sure i'll regret it when i'm paying three times the amount back at home. Eh well! :P All in all a quaint little city deserving of all the praise it commonly receives.
