God's waiting room
From Dan does Earth in Forster, Australia on Nov 13 '06
We slowly struggled to awakedness and made our way to the King Cross area of Sydney to pick up the hire car. They were out of the type we wanted so we got a free upgrade to an 'executive' model with sat nav. This was useful as Oli got lost after failing to understand 'turn left now' and we were able to rely on the disembodied goddess of navigation to get us out and heading north. Once Sydney and her outskirts had been successfully navigated we were upon the Pacific Highway and heading north to our eventual destination: Brisbane. The coastal road was quiet and lined with forests of subdued and elegant beauty. It had been recommended we visit Forster by one of Oli's friends from work. I don't know who he works with but this place was a picture postcard suburban/coastal old people's resort. A kind of quiet version of Eastbourne with a few gorgeous beaches. After a stroll around we ate well (it was the waitress who told us that it was called God's waitning room by locals) and played cards with a few beers in the room.
