On monday morning we left Perth to start our treck "Up North"

Did not see anything too exciting on the way up. The country just got dry but still had a lot of colour.

The further north we got the more vivid the colours became. We thought we had seen orange soil, well the soil up here is almost red!

The caravan park was nice and Bert and Agatha arrived safely with the rest of the family late at night. We explore Kalbarri's various lookout places, Red Bluff Point, Chinamens Bay Lookout and of course we drove along a very sandy track to Natures Window in Kalbarri National Park. It was definitely worth it. Even pictures hardly capture the vasteness of the land and the incredible barren and dryness of it neither do they show the millions of flies that drive you bananas!!

It really has a beauty all of its own, very uniquely incredible.

The beaches around Kalbarri were also nice and refreshing. The fishing is good here too. We watched the fisherman bring in the crayfish and no Adrian did not catch this tuna but we ate it anyway.

During the middle of the night we woke up from a loud snapping sound and to our amazement found a 2 tonne tree branch had been shed by a gumtree on our site. Apparently they are known to do this when it is dry, the tree will decide it cannot support all of its branches and lets one go. Thankfully it did not land on anything or anyone. Our devotions in the morning was about branches not bearing fruit if they do not stay with the tree, I think we got the picture!!!

The Pelicans on the beach were fed everymornig and we learned how to tell their age and got to feed them. The men had gone fishing and came back with a big tuna. The neighbour gave us all lessons in how to fillet the thing and taught us how to eat it raw. Yummy....not! But on the barbque it was good and we even had leftovers.

The park had a great pool too which the kids enjoyed. Agatha kept us all in routine with coffee breaks and good things to eat.
