Here we are! After a very arduous journey on a jumbo jet, we have finally arrived. Arduous in the fact that I "threw up" half the way to hong kong, and still cant eat a decent meal 3 days later!

We met Maire, Maire and Maire's girls at Shannon airport, picked up our tiny little car, a Hyundai Atos (just like a getz), and set off for Maires house in Galway for a well deserved rest in a real bed.

The next day we set off for Carna after a walkabout in Galway city. Galway city is gorgeous - so cute! Everything here is cute. Everything feels like its down a country lane.

In Carna we spent the day meeting all the family. Its all so confusing because they all have the same names - too many Martins, Fehiens, Maires, Marcus's. Saw the house (or whats left of, its now a cow house) where Nanny and her brothers and sisters grew up. 8 in all - god knows where they all fitted.

Off to Mynish Island to see Brid, who is just like Nanny, except more deaf! Her mannerisms are exactly the same and she talks just like Nanny as well!

Today we are here in Clifden, wandering around checking the place out. Tried to ring Bridie but no-one home. But we feel like we are going to run into her at some stage on the street! We'll have lunch here, and drive home the long way back to Mynish. The weather is so wild here, you could get blown away! The landscape is like another planet, rocks upon rocks upon rocks. Mums idea was to touch the atlantic ocean - that backfired on her when the water came up a bit quickly and drenched her feet - lucky I was prepared with woolley socks in the car :)
