Around 90 minutes by bus from Beijing, we took our first glimpse (well apart from a bit of one from the Trans Mongolian train) of the famous Great Wall.  Seeing is believing - it was a fairly misty day but you could still see the wall snaking around the hills as far as the eye could see - truely amazing sight.

We took a cable car up from the base of the hill to tower 14 and then walked to tower 20 which sounds easier than it really was.  Some of the steps were massive and I felt like I was a mountain climber.  From tower 20 we walked back to tower 6 and took a toboggin ride back down the hill which was great fun.  Would have been every better fun if we did not have slow tourists in front of us who only knew where the brake was and weren't keen on letting go of it.  Nearly caused a pile up.
