after the exertion of our 6 day jeep safari we felt we needed a little time to relax back in Old Manali before heading to McLeod Ganj for the big birthday bash of the Dali Lama.

This turned into to a week of doing very little other than sleeping, eating, watching football and the lord of the rings trilogy!

i call her cow-elly

However we did manage to go to a nearby village Vashisht evenually and walked to the waterfall.

The main part of Vashisht was busier that Old Manali but then when you set off for the waterfall it's like going back in time past all these little farm houses with their cows outside!

the walk through the forest was rather pleasant until you get over the river, then it took a nasty turn for the worse as the last bit to get to the waterfall involved a scramble up a 90 degree slope in the blazing heat

i'd like to say it was worth it but personally i've seen better waterfalls and once we got to the place were you could see it there was no opening to sit down, there was just one rock to huddle under and then you had to scramble back down - traci slipped over twice but i managed to retain my dignity by shuffling down on my bum!

on the walk back through the forest we saw a group of cows on the path slowing clambering down the steep side of the hill in order to get to some grass and there was one that hung back and kept taking a few steps over then freaking out and backing up, i call her cow-elly and i think if she could have made the "eeeeeeeeeeeeee" noise of fear she would of!

anyway thats all for Manali, although we told Ramesh "the boy" at our guest house that we would be back in a few weeks as he's grown quite attatched to ben and i feared a scene if i said we were leaving for good

but it's time to move on and check out a new place
