In Messina, Sicily
From The Last Major Family Vacation: Europe Style in Messina, Italy on Aug 27 '06
Today we got to Messina. It's on the island of Sicily, which I think is what I think would be equivalent to a province of Italy's. We didn't book a tour so we just too a tour of the streets ourselves. We took a hike up to a church and took pictures over looking Messina, and then decided to hunt down the shopping district. However, everything was closed here as well so we weren't able to look at anything but it was a good way to see the city anyways. After a couple hours, we decided to head back because there wasn't much to do but walk up and down the streets. We went and layed by the pool for the last time, then ate dinner and said our goodbyes to everyone. Holland America has the nicest crew. They are all from the Phillapeans and Indonesia and they are extremely friendly. We made quite a few good friends this cruise. I'd say they were the best ones so far. After the show, we decided to have a drink in the Crow's Nest bar since it was our last night. It felt like we had been on the cruise forever!! It's so weird to be out of the routine.
