Well theres not too much to report here from the 2 days we spent in Newcastle, theres no bridge, no good footie team and well the accents no way near as funny like.

It did share some simlarities though, heavy industry, umm quite a few McDonalds and some places names, eg Jesmond, Hexham, Morpeth. I was very pleased to be visiting Newcastle on behalf of my big sister who lives in Newcastle UK too and hope that you got your lovely postcard that I sent you Jessy, what great scenery eh!

We didnt do much or have time to do much so we did the obligatory walk around town. The beach was ok and in a way reminded us of Plymouth as there was a big feature like the Citadel all the way around. We walked along the breakwater and to Nobbys Point, getting thoroughly whipped by wind and sand and watched some young guys surfing on a very shallow, very rocky break. The day before we had a arrived though a guy had been bitten by  a shark just on Newcastle beach, he was ok and in a way seemed pretty stoked as it had done no-real damage but left a tooth embedded in his big toe! What a keepsake!

Anyway that was that for Newcastle really, we were a bit disappointed with the town but had a really good lunch out, theres not really anything to do there, but it breaks down the long journey to Sydney. We did have a noisy night in the hostel though, thanks to some very loud, very drunk, very Irish pikey squaddies types! They thought it would be fun not to use their keys and instead hammer, kick and punch on a metal door and shout a lot at various times throughout the night..grrrr, I was glad that they were quickly turfed out in morning.

Well after posting my sisters very special postcard, which the lady put a very special decorative postmark on for me, when i explained the significance, that was it and we got on yet a another bus, this time heading for the BIG city of Sydney...woohoo!

Theres definitely lots more to come so stay tuned folks or as Simon would always put stay classy! Sorry for my bad story telling and lack of good jokes, but theres always room for improvent isnt there! Thinking of you all lots, hope you're enjoying the journey just as much as we are

Big hugs and kisses

Jem and Si XXXX
