Headed to denver today to get my social security number. Took the greyhound (big US bus service) to get there and got there about 10.30.. After walkin the streets for about 40mins and asking about 10 people i managed to find the office and get my number sorted. Out by 12pm i had the day to canvas the city.. Denver is about the size of wellington id say and their main st has a wicked bus service with no cars. Lookin for stuff to do i wandered the streets and found a place called US mint. This place happens to be one of the two places that they make US coins in the states. They did tours so i booked in for one, but first i had to get rid of my bag etc as they wouldnt let you in with anything like a bag or phone etc. I wandered over to the art museum, which is an awesome building (have a look at the pics) thats only been finished in the last couple of years. Offloading my gear into a locker i headed back to the US mint building. The security screening at this place was insane.. had to take off anything with metal, so that meant goodbye belt, wallet, watch and almost my shoes! It was a pretty gd tour, showing us how they made all the coins and giving us 25c (talk about stingy!) The US have 1c,5c,10c,50c and $1 dollars in notes and coins.. Its crazy i ended up giving a guitar begger most of my coins cos i can't be bothered working out the exact change so im always breaking notes! Apparently they're thinking of getting rid of the $1 note and 1c coin so hopefully before i come back to the states hah.. The rest of the afternoon i walked the city checking out the parliament building, arts building and some shops.. Headed back to frisco that night about 7pm.
