By the time we reached Franz Josef (the town, notthe person, although it is named after the person) we were both getting tired of all the high activity prices in New Zealand. Franz Josef is famous for the F.J. Glacier, unique in that it's located in a rainforest and it's also one of the only glaciers in the worldthat extends downto sea level (you're welcome for the useless trivia information). There's a lot of companies that specialize in guided glacier hikes, for a tidy fee of course. Heather's not a big fan of ice and all things cold, so we opted to pass on the glacier walk. Instead we took some time to work out flight arrangements for other legs of our year long trip. It was also my brother Christopher's birthday that day so gave him a ring. Happy birthday once again big brother. Sorry we missed you that day.

Not much else to report from Franz Josef. Apparently everyoneon our bus who went on the glacier hike just loved it. I guess you could take that as a recommendation if you want.
