Thanks for all the comments, it's really great (keep it up!)

I'll answer any questions you have in here...

Patty: It's not typical for regular students to have only two classes (he is taking two, they just fall on the same day-clever boy) but because it's an exchange, they are limited in what they can take, since most of the courses are in german. So they have to take either an international course (in english), or a very hands-on course. So Scott is taking an international open class, where he can really do anything he wants and get critiqued and guided by his teacher. He is also taking an audio class,I'm not sure exactly what he's doing in that course, because HE'S not exactly sure what he's going to do. Also, they are getting extra credits for these courses because it's like an extra semester so they don't need many classes.

Okay, that was a really long answer but you get it now! On to the journalling!

On Friday night we went to the Hamburg Dom- a thrice-a-year fair with free entry and roller coasters, rides and games. Alot like Canadian fairs...except there aren't ANY BEER GARDENS!!! (WHAT?!?! In GERMANY?!?!?)

But that's because there are beer STANDS everywhere! as well as Bratwurst stands and pickle stand and candy stands and Doner stands...mmmmm food. And poor Scott married the ever-so-practical daughter of Yvette (who packed lunches for every field trip ever) who brought supper so we wouldn't have to buy it!! So we just drooled....mmmmm. But we did also find a medieval fair in a nook of the Dom with Honey mead, absinth (they say, I'll wait until I get to the czech Rep. to try the real stuff!!) archery stands, booths selling medieval style clothes (and cloaks! And wooden swords!!). They had fires set up in certain areas, which was a real treat because it was FREEZING out!!! In this area was also some live music (german) celtic drummers and bagpipes! It made me feel like I was in 'Outlander'. Which is funny because one of the guys on the trip is reading it right now!!!

fireworks, pretty okay shot, eh?

The picture is perfect - and I am LOL that you took a lunch to a fair! You are ever so practical. Reminds me of my mother. Sounds like an amazing time! When I first read the title "Hamburg Dom" I was a little afraid you had found the kinky part of town - I envisioned black leather and whips....Giggle. Keep the stories coming - am enjoying the trip vicariously Love Sue
