Shabbos in Christchurch

Well, Shabbos has fallen in Christchurch.  I drove by the synagogue just to see where it was today (behind a big, locked, wrought-iron gate, like the rest of the Kiwi synagogues so far), and nobody was there.  Going to try for services tomorrow to see what they're all about here, and then looking to hit the road all the way down to Dunedin if I can.  It's a long drive by Kiwi standards (five hours or so), but I'd like a few days in Dunedin.  I hear it's a fun time.

Christchurch is big by comparison to the towns I've been in recently, but still pretty small.  I saw the main cathedral and town square earlier today (only about a five-minute walk from the Coachman's Backpackers that I'm staying at), and now I'm off to the riverside for some dinner and maybe a live band somewhere.

Other than that, all is well.  It's been really nice to hear from a few of you recently, and keep the letters coming.  I'll write back as soon as I get the chance.
