Spend our first morning in Chengdu visiting the Panda Sanctuary which was about an 1 hour drive from Chengdu.  The Pandas were in various enclosures with lots of food and shelter.  As the pandas are solatary animals they were kept in separate areas apart from a few who were kept together.  We arrived really early so we could see them having breakfast as this is about as active as they get.  They spend the rest of the day sleeping so if you visit, I would do so in the morning - the place opens at 8am.

After returning to the city, we visited the Vegetarian Hall in a Monastry.  You can order 'beef', 'chicken' and 'fish' as well as normal veggie dishes such as eggplant.  The interesting thing is that they only serve vegetarian so that dish you thought was beef is actually made entirely from vegetables etc - how clever is that!

Attended a culture show that evening and saw Chinese Opera, Acrobats, Sketches and the famous face changing where the actors masks can change in the blink of an eye - still don't know how they done it.
