안녕하세요 everyone! OPEN DAY IS OVER!!! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Yes, the chaos has FINALLY come to an end ..eight classes in a row! So how as it you ask? Well, not that bad actually..except for the fact that we are EXHAUSTED..and we now have afternoon classes to teach!!! The kids were quite well behaved surprisingly (obviosly cos the parents were around!)- except for the odd one or two - like the two kids who started a fight in Richs class and their parents didnt do a thing to control them (you can imagine what that did to Rich - seeing people who cannot (or dont care to?!) control their own kids)..and of course ..i had to have a kid who decided that having peanut butter and jam on the bread was just not good enough - it had to go on table, the floor, in his hair etc as well!! What a mess! And again the mother didnt do a thing discipline-wise. I even had a kid who decided to slice the plastic tablecloth with his knife, because oviously he didnt get that much of a rush slicing the bread! AND of course, I just had to give the BIGGEST smile and say ' No Jake, you are meant to be cutting the BREAD!'. AND AGAIN the mother didnt do anything discipline-wise! So, I'm not sure if I'll ever eat peanut butter and jam sandwiches again - and if for some STUPID reason, one day i do decide to eat one - I'll have GREAT (PLEASE hear the sarcasm in my voice when i say that!) memories of me singing and dancing around the class with an apron on, singing ' peanut butter, peanut butter, jelly, jelly'!!!! for 8 classes in a row. OH dear. We just hope that the parents got to see a hint of what their kids are actually like at school ..whether they got to see how quiet and unresponsive their kids are, or just to see how capable they are of behaving badly!!!! I dont really have that much to say about ther parents-most of them looked like they were a little bored, and of course, they were worse than their kids when it came to listening to instructions(-now we know where the kids get it from!)! A couple of them were happy snappy the whole way through the class - taking photos of their kids from every angle, while others hardly even smiled. Most of the parents (or grandparents!) really got involved doing actions etc for the songs which was great to see though. Especially Christines Dad - one of the girls from Harvard class: He even answered half the questions I asked. Like if i'd say 'what do you need to make peanut butter?'..he'd shout 'peanuts' as loud as he could from the back of the class - I think he learned a lot today!!!!!!!!!! Wouldnt it be great to have HIM in my class!!!!!!!! Michaels class seemed to go ok too - except when a few kids in Berkeley decided it might be fun to run up and down the passageway during the class (AND AGAIN the mothers didnt do anything discipline-wise!). And David said his classes went ok too. So despite the fact that today made Rich feel even sicker than he already feels (think we both getting flu from being around snivelling kids all the time!).. its OVER, so tonight we are all going out to RELAX for Sues (korean teacher) going away party(shes going to do another english course in canada)..Wonderland is paying again -yayyyy! OK, so we've just got home now..its 9pm..Mrs Lee decided that we all did so great with the open day, that she took us out to dinner -I think she could see the looks on our faces when we had finished today!! So we got to choose the restaurant - we chose Outback Steakhouse..at R150 each ..we got a pretty good steak!!! And of course, we topped it off with somes drinks- i had a Pina Colada, and Rich tried a Black Russian! We needed them!! Yayy..its the weekend ..really time to relax!! Just some news from this last weekend- Rich went birding at the arboretum nearby - he saw birds like Black woodpecker and the Dollarbird. This weekend, he is going out again with Tim, so hopefully some more birding news to come! Oh, and Rich bought a braai..yayyy! So on wednesday night we (mike, dave, rich and me) all headed to the roof of our building for a 'barbeque'! It was the BEST - nothing like a good braai - minus the boerewors! It was great! Ok well, thats all from this side! Keep smiling! Lots of love, us! 안녕하세요 everyone! OPEN DAY IS OVER!!! YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! Yes, the chaos has FINALLY come to an end ..eight classes in a row!
