It was a welcome relief to find ourselves in a city again (not that we're big time yuppies), and as far as cities go, Adelaide is a nice one.  One of the things we were looking forward to the most was being able to prepare a proper "home cooked meal" for ourselves after eating at so many greasy restaurants since leaving Perth.

At our hostel we met a great couple from South Africa, Chris and Karien.  Up to that point in our backpacking travels we hadn't really met other married couple, so meeting Chris and Karien was a nice change of pace.  Technically, however, they weren't backpackers, even though they were stayting in a backpackers hostel, but we won't slight them for that!

We've heard people in Perth say, "If you like to pray go to Adelaide, otherwise don't bother".
Gorillas amaze me. They're so human like in so many ways. Just look how unimpressed this guy appears.

In Adelaide we did lots of walking.  It's a nice city for that.  The Torrens River that runs through the heart of the city is very scenic, and there's lots of interesting architecture.  One thing that you notice is the contrast between the old and the new buildings, often side by side.  Adelaide has a reputation for having lots of old churchesm and rightfully so.  We've heard people in Perth say, "If you like to pray go to Adelaide, otherwise don't bother".  That's a little harsh.  We rather liked Adelaide.

We made a visit to the Adelaide Zoo and were taken by the lions (but not literally taken by them)
